We undertake dispensing of both NHS and private prescriptions.
We carry a wide range of medicines in stock along with a smaller range of herbal remedies. Unless otherwise requested by the patient, all tablets and capsules are dispensed in child resistant containers – this does not mean that they are child proof – nothing is!
Collection and Delivery
If you are worried about the inconvenience of travelling to the surgery why not let us order and collect your prescriptions for you?
We can order and collect your prescriptions from the doctor’s surgery – just ask us to do so. Unlike the surgery, with Heath Pharmacy you can order your prescription over the phone.
If you find it difficult to get to the pharmacy we can also deliver your prescription items to you.
Medicine Use Reviews (MUR)
If you would like to discuss the medicines that you are taking you can come in for a medicine use review. We can discuss any side effects you may be experiencing, give you more information on what your medicines are for and make sure that you are not being prescribed any medicines that you don’t need.
To book an MUR appointment call 01422 354375
New Medicine Service
We offer a new medicine service (NMS) for people with long-term health conditions who have been prescribed a new medicine. It is estimated that 30-50% of prescribed medicines are not taken as recommended. We can help to ensure that you are taking your new medicines correctly so that you can manage your symptoms and maintain your quality of life. Just ask for a consultation next time you are at the the pharmacy or call 01422 354375.
Doctors will soon be transferring prescriptions to pharmacies electronically. Our computer system is fully equipped to use this new service. If you would like us to receive your prescriptions electronically you must nominate us as your chosen pharmacy.
Patients Medication Records
While producing labels for dispensing medicines, our computer will also keep a record of the items dispensed. Once on record you will be assigned a patient record number – this will appear on all your labels. Our computer system will alert us to the possibility of interaction with other medication and will print warnings concerning alcohol, drowsiness, driving etc on the label.
Under certain circumstances (set out in the Medicines Act) we are able to make an emergency supply of a prescription only medicine. This is intended for genuine emergencies only and a charge is made. Help with Medication
If, for any reason, you have difficulty with taking your medication there are a number of ways we may be able to help. These include providing large print labels, disability aids, medication reminder sheets and non-child resistant tops on bottles. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you require assistance.
